JOLLY DANCE GIVEN BY WAIPUKURAU NURSES

Beautiful summer flowers decorated the spacious lounge room in the Nurses' Home at the Waipukurau Public Hospital on Friday evening for the dance given by the nursing staff in honour of Ihe three candidates, Misses J. Cottrell, N. PoAver and J. L. Lloyd, who had sat for their final examinations earlier in the week. Crystal vases, in which were arranged tall sprays of deep biue delphiniums and in others iceland poppies, adorned the high mantle shelves, while along the wide window shelves and on the small tables placed in the alcoves wero bowls of roses, sweetpeas and other summer blooms. The Oriental window drapings making an artistic background for the colourful decorations. Redward's orchestra provided a delightful programme of dance music for the jolly crowd who were present. A delicious supper of fruit salad, trifles, iee creams and a variety of savouries and cakes, was served on the wide verandah. The hostesses for the evening were: Miss Hinman, who was wearing a dainty frock of pale pink suede coin spotted satin, having a very full skirt; Miss Ralph, who looked smart in a black matalasse gown slimly fashioned, with sliort puffed sleeves and full hemline; Miss J. Mackay, Avho Avas gOAvned in liberty -oral satin, the skirt closely gauged at the uack and off shoulder frills. The three hostesses extended a aa'arm Avelcome to the guests.
