As a result of a discussion in Concilijation Council at Wellington to-day a ifull settlement was reached in the dis•pute between the Wellington, Taranui land Marlborough Brewers, Bottlers, Bottle-washers and Aerated Water Em•ployees' Industrial Union of Workers and New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., and j others. Before the opening of the Concilia- ! tion Council hearing Mr. D. W. Madden, representing New Zealand Breweries, •Ltd., explainea that a partial settlement had been arrived at in conference between the two parties and only the points of difference were dealt with by the Council. Under the new agreement workers , employed in a brewery or bottling store | will be subjeet .to a 40-hour week to be j .worked on five days of the week bej tween 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, The employers | must xelease all men from Saturday j work where possible and where a man j is required to work ou Saturday morn- , ing he must be given a balf-day off on I another day of the week. Workers in | malthouses are to work 40 hours ou five j and a-half days of the week and the | hours are not to exceed eight a day, to he worked within a spread of 13 hours. [ Provision is made for the working of j employees ou Saturday mornings be- | , tween the last two weeks in November ; and the first two weeks in January and | between three weeks before Easter and | a.week following at ordinary rates of j pay. The employers asked for this proi vision to cover the special conditiona . of the industry. I Malthouse la'bourera are to receive £4 I5s a week, brewery and bottling house labourers £4 10s a week, night cellarmen £4 15s a week and. coopers £5 8s a week. Overtime is to be paid at the rate of time and a-half for the first | three hours and double time thereafter. j Employees are to receive one week's I holiday on full pay after each year of i service. Special rates of wages were j agreed on for youths. Youths between ! the ages of 18 and 19 are to receive £2 I 10s, between 19 and 20 £2 15s, and be- ] tween 20 and 21, £3. Casuals are to be j paid 2s 6d an hour. | Although the new conditions will not come into force until a new award is made by the Court of Arbitration, the new wage rates are to he paid as from December 11,
