Concert for Waipawa School Radio ' Fund
(From
WAIPAWA, This Day. A very large audience assembled in the Waipawa Municipal Theatre last evening on the occasion of the halfhour competitive entertainment organised in aid of the School Radio Fund, and all present appeared to enjoy the excellent programme submitted. Tho various sketches served to introduce a number of new performers to the public, particularly in the comedy staged by the pupils of the Distriet Bligh School, which was a distinctly meritorioua effort. The sketch presented by Mr H. Weedon was responsible fo» much merriment. Balance was given to the programme by the singing of the Toc H choir, from Waipukurau, their concerted selections .being greatly appreciated. The final performance was given by a party of Waipukurau girls, "Just a Little Famo and Glory," and was well acted and nicely staged. A charaeter song and tap dance by Misses Mallcin antl Wiggins, "Oh My Goodness," was h very popular number. At an interval in the proceedings Mr S. W. Strang, chairman of the School Committee, tendered hi3 thanks to all who had assisted in preparing and running the entertainment, particularly mentioning the assistance. Teceived from Waipukurau, and members of the orchestra^ He stressed the importance of radio in modern education, and expressed the hope that the public would rally to the assistance of the committee in raising the money necessary for the instaUation.
