Cr. Eagle referred to the increase in the manufacture of gas, and the proportionately small increase in the saies, and suggested that this would indicate that there are still leakages which needed attention. The Mayor drew the attention of the couneil to the wanton dcstruction and vandalism which took place On Coronation Park. He had recently had an opportunity of inspccting a number of eamping grounds in small places in the north, and nowhere .had he seen such wanton destruction as was seen here. It was obviously not done by the campers, and he Neould not understand the ■ attitude of people who would go to such lengths to destroy their own property. There was no point in it, and it eould only give- the town a bad name with the travelling public. He considered that the matter should again be placed in the hands of the police, and anyone caught should be prosecuted. Councillors were in accord with the views expressed by the Mayor.
