EAST COAST AIRWAYS
t . ' Hastings 'Drome Qffers Advantages BETTER FACIIITIES A cbange of the Hawke's Bay agency from Napier to Hastings is eontemplat' Od by the directors of East Coast Airways Ltd., according to the annual report of the company, which intimates that serious consideration is being given to this proposal, it being felt that better facilities were offered at the Hastings aerodrome. "Unfortunately finality has not_ yet been rdached by the Napier authorities, in regard to facilities at the Beacons aerodrome at Napier," states the annual report, when surveying the facilities available over the route. "Thjs ground is an exoelleut natural aerodrome, but there is no hangar accommodation provided and- the company has been put to considerable expense as a result of planes having to stand exposed to the sun and rain. "The depreciation caused by this is much greater thau is realised by the laymau, and the directors are seriously considering oialting a change in organis--ation at the Hawlce 's Bay end. ( Cei'tain ground transport disadvantages would attach to the use of the Hastings aerodrome, but it seems likely that suitable hangar aeepmmodation could be arrauged there, and this consideration may outweigh any increase in cost of ground transport, as the cost to the company resulting from exposure of machines at the Napier end is very heavy.
