WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Kereru Meeting Members of the Kereru Women's Inetitute met in the district hall for their Deeember meeting. There was a fairly good attendance. Arrangements for the' children's Christchurch tree and fancy dress party were finalised . Mrs L. R. Averill welcomed Miss Anderson, who was present again after a visit to the Old Country. The institute competition, "A plate of biscuits, three varieties" was judged by Miss Anderson. Mrs W. A. Whyte gained first place, Mrs P. Walker, second and Mrs C. G. Averill third. The best bloom was won by Mrs C. G. Averill, rurs Johnston was second and Miss Anderson third. The hostesses werre Mesdames Johnston and Whyte. A pleasant afternoon concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
