HIGH SCHOOL OLD PUPILS DAY ENDS WITH A JOLLY DANCE
As a finale to the very successful Oid Pupils' Day h61d at the Hastings High School yesterday, a jolly dance was held in the evening at the Barrie Studio. The committee, who most capably arranged the dance, was: Mr T. Heighway, pf£sident of the Old Pupils' Association; Mrs E. S. Craven and Mr W. M. Angus, vice-presidents; Miss Gladys Jenkias and Mr 0. Wilkinson, honorary seeretaries; Mr D. Plank, honorary treasuref; Misses Maureen BrandonJones, Gladys Symes, Nancy Lomas, June Burton, E. Heenan, Messrs G. GOldsmith, K. Wilson, N. Anderson, P. Tritt, H. Norton. During the evening Mr E. A. Coxon, ex-prefiident of the Old Pupils' Association, spoKe of the coming departure of Miss Wood, a member of the Hfgh School staff, who leaves early next year for Scotland, where her marriage will take place. Mr Coxon expressed appreciation of all her work and wished her every happiness in the future. He them presented Miss Wood with a bouquet of deep red carnations with blue and red streamers. Miss Wood thanked the Old Pupils for the bouquet, and said that she would carry away with her very happy meuories of the Old Pupils' Association. Miss Wood wore a gown and coatee Of floral chiffon in pastel shades. Ekccllent dance music was played by Miss Joan Wilkinson. As the evening was very warm refreshing cool drinks were served with the supper and were much appreciated. Arnong those present were: Mrs E. S. Craven, magnolia patterned satin cbarmeuse worn with a brown velvet cape. Mrs S. I. Jones, black taffeta with cape sleeves and skirt frilled from waist to hem. Mrs E. A. Coxon, apricot flowered chiffon gown with narrow tlared epaulettes. Mrs A. Haley, floral matelasse gown in vivid shades with scarlet trimming. Miss Gladys Jenkins, smoke blue cobweb laee with tiny pink flowers at jfche neck. * Miss Maureen Brandon-Jbnes, brown chiffon flowered in shades of orange ahd lemon. Miss Gladys Symes, black mairette with rucked shoulder straps of cherry velvet. Miss Jun© Burton, ivory taffeta with a shoulder spray of deep purple pansies. Miss E. Heenan, blue, black and white plaid taffeta with very full sl^irt. Miss Nancy Lomas, blue Swiss organdi frock and coatee with short, full sleeves. Miss M. Jamieson, tomato matelasse with silver lame edging the square neck. Miss A. Marigold, pink lace with hand-made velvet flowers at the neck. Miss G. Howard, ocean blue georgette with silver belt and searf draperies. Miss N. McAleese, white taffeta flowered with golden and green sweet peas. Miss E. Kearney, white taffeta flowered with clusters of bright flowers. Miss R. Joll, flowered silk frock with narrow epaulettes and a black velvet sash. Miss J. Milne, red flowered chiffon with a wide red sash. Miss Thompson, pastel pink satin , chaimeme, with floweri at th« atek. _ *
