100,000 NEW HOMES
N.S.W. Housing Scheme (Beceived 9, 11.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 8. Advances totalling £iu,000,000 to building societies for house-erectioh were announced by the Premier, Mr B, S. B. Stevens, during the second readnig of the Housing Improvement Bili in the Assembly. This total of funds now made available by banlcs, assurance societies and other fiiianeial institutions might be doubled or even trebled within a few vears, added Mr Stevens. The Government's housing policy envisaged 100,000 new homes in the next 10 years. The Government's scheme would en- ■ sure steady employment for ' 80,000 workers in the building trades.
