Special Train for ( Railway Workers at Christmas waikokopu to napier To relieve the congestion on ordinary passenger trains at Christmas eonsequent. upon the cessation of work on December 22 by all Publie Works employees north of Napier, the Railway Deparfcment, in conjunction with the Publie Works Department is to run a fpecial holiday train from Waikokopu to Napier on that date, carrying workers and their families who wish to travel south for the holiday period. It is probable that the train will continue its jonrney south to Wellington, depending oh the demand. It is anticipated that upwards of 300 workers and their families will avail Ihemselves of the opportunity to travel, and at present offleers of the Railway Department, and the railway offlcer of the Publie Works Department are at Waikokopu making arrangements for tho express. The train is a special one, reserve d for Publie Works employees only, and the passengers will be charged at standard railway fares. The train will leave Waikokopu at such an hour that workers on the East Coast railway, north of Waikokopu as far as Gisborne may commence their holidays on December 22 in time to connect with the train, which will then proeeed south, picking up men from the canyp at Raupunga and road-work-ers on the Napier-Wairoa road at Waikare. It is probable that men employcd at the Tuai hydro-eleetrie works and on roading work at Waikaremoana will also be able to reach the train in time. • The "Publie Works Special" will arrive in Napier at about midnight, and, if there are sufficient passengers offering to make it worth while to continue the journey to Wellington, the ranks will be swelled by roading employees from the Napier- Taupo road.
