REGENT THEATRE
"SARATOGA." Apart from any other consideration, the appearance of "Saratoga" at the Eegent Theatre to-night will be bound to maka that theatre the Mecca for all lovers of the late Jean Harlow, in that the picture gives her last recorded appearance in the world of romance to which she had given so much distinction through the medium of her performances with Clark Gable in "China Seas," "Hold Your Man," "Wife versus Secretary" and other stories of that kind. It iS common knowledge that the lovely aetress was sticlcen with fatal illness after having played a portion of the pi-.v;ure, and that her role was completed by an understudy. "Saratoga" tells the story of the daughter of a rich horse owner and a booltinaker, her father'9 friend, \7h0m she hates and fights, then loves. Intrigues over "ringing" bets, plot and counterplot behind the scenes in tho paddock, and finally, the sensational "racing climax worked out on a new dramatie twist, keep the picture packed with action. Against this action the romantic sto:y is developed. Eeatures of much more than ordinary interest are contained in the supporting programme, including a series of enthralling "March of Time"" studies of current American and British Internal problems. A travelogue deals with the grandeur of the Eocky Mountains, while "Eoamin' Holiday" is one of the most entertainingly funny sketches yet provided by the boy "gang." It js an excellent all-round programme.
