Successful Affair at Rissington

RISSINGTON,. Last Night. A very successful flower show and market was held in the hall. There was an excellent display of flowers, vegetables, cookery and home produce. The market stall did good business, and afternoon tea, ices and soft drinks had many patrons. In the' evening the Puketitiri Women's Iustitute presented an amusing play entitled, "Sewing for tne Heathen." Dancing followed and was kept up till midnight. Competitions for a Christmas cake and a ham were won by Master Warren Hughes and Mr E. Pair, respectively. Following were the winners of the various show classes: — Flowers: Sweet peas, Mrs Rowe. Pansies, Mrs Rowe. Roses, Mrs Wocdward. Single roses, Mrs A. Absolom. Iceland poppy, Mrs W. Hughes. Best colleetion cut flowers, Mr A. Absolom. Victorian posy, Miss Joyce McLean. Williams, Rhubarb, Mr A. Absolom. New potatoes, Mr S. Williams. Best colleetion of vegetables, Mrs J. H. Absolom. Cookery, etc.: Short bread, Mrs W. Hughes. Gingerbread, Mrs W. Woodward. Fruit cake, Mrs Woodward. White scones, Mrs Woodward. Girdle scones, Mrs Carmichael. Tartlets, Mrs Woodward. Pikelets, Mrs W. Hughes. Sponge (made by man), Mr W. Woodward. Sweets, Mrs Woodward.
