DUNEDIN, Dec. 7. The resignation of the Hon. F. Jones from the city council and the appointment'last night of another Labour member, Mr. Ralph Harrison, . to the vacancy, thougk tbe elections are to be held next May, spurred opposition councillors to biting commeut on Labour 's taetics and their fear of the coming vote. Labour spokesmen replied that it was following the tactics of a section which • had governed in the paSt, and it w'as right tbat Labour should "retain its majority.
