It was pointed out that the date aliotted to Wellington for the provinCial championships covered thOse awarded Hawlte's Bay, and it was ieared that the proximity of the two provinces would be detrimental to the attendance at the Hawke's Bay meeting. The dates aliotted to Hawke's Bay are December 30, 31 and January 1, while . W ellington has been aliotted a period of about a -week, which includes the. dates 011 which the Hawko 's Bay championships are to be held. The meeting deeided to send a strong protest to theparent body. A challenge for the Chrxstie Cup -was forwarded to the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association. The date suggested is February 5 of next year, but the venue has yet to be l'~c " by the holders of the trophy. It is probable that Palmerston North will be chosen.
