New Award Sought

I AUCKLAND, Last Night. An application by the New Zealand btoremen and'Packers (other than retaihshops) and Warehouse Employees (other than drivers and clerks) Industrial Association of Workers and its affiliated organisations, for a now Dominion award covering storemen and paekers, was heard by the second Arbitratxon Court. Mr. Justice. Hunter presided and with hira, were Messrs W. E. Anderson and A. J. Croskery, lay members. Mr. W. Brotherson, assisted by Mr. W. Miller, appeared for the union, and Mr. T. J. Bishop represented the cmployers. Houi-s of work and wages were the chief matters not agreed upon in Conciliation Council. Other matters in dispute included the weigiit to be handled or frucked by one man and the application of the award insofar as it related to workers substantiaJJy employed as storemen and paekers and to certain other workers. By arrangement with the union, the employers called the flrst witness who substantiated clainis for a 44-liour week worked on oi days. The evidence was r-ot completed when th» Cwwt ftdjourund-
