TREAT FOR CHILDREN "Wonders of the Deep" at Westerman's "POPEYE" & "SANTA CLAUS" A treat in store for Hastings children during the Christmas shopping season is at the Magie Cave in Westerman's where Santa Claus is now holding court and dispensing presents to his juvenile visitors. The ' Cave is arranged in a most attractive and novel manner, and the trip through it will be enjoyed by the childreu as much as the gift whieh awaits them at the end. . The small visitor meets Father Christmas at the door of the Cave, and is conducted on a tour of the premises. The first site is a model of the wouders of the deep, cleverly arranged with moving figures of several types of fish, mermaids, shell fish, and a diver, in a representation of the bed of the sea. A fine-meshed wire sereen cleverly gives the illusion of water, while the figures are controllea by eletcricity, and move about, so that there is seen the spectacle of the fish swaying gently in the sea, an oyster opening and shutting its shell and the diver using a knife. Green lighting completes the picture. The cave takes a turn and comes to a series of moving models of marino scenes, including representations of the popular film figure, "Popeye," with his consort ' ' Olive Oil. ' ' Last of all bef ore the treasures at the end of the cave is the ' ' Bruin Boy s ' Band, ' ' where animal models go through the motions of an orcliestra, complete with instru- , ments. — P JB.A.
