AUCKLAND, Last Night. The quantity of dairy produce in store in Auckland at the moment, awaiting shipment, is a subject which, xn view of th© watersiders' strike, the local manager of the Primary Products Marketing Department prefers not to discuss wxthout Ministerial direction. A ready indication that it is a large quantity, lxowever, is obtainable by reference to last year's statistics combined with the fact that the dairy season at the moment is in full swing. Auckland is by far the largest export port in the Dominion for butter and cheese. Last, year 2,796,145cwt. of butter and l,658,206cwt. of cheese were expoi'ted from New Zealand, and of this Auckland's quota Avas 1,905,089 cwt. of butter and 80,60ocwt. of cheese — over 90 per cent. of tlxe country' s butter export and ahout 15 per cent. of the cheese shipments. This year's butter export is fully up to that of last year, so that it can be readily recognised tl\at a shxpping lioldup at the moment, with the export season at its lxeight, must seriously aft'ect marketing arrangements, and that a prolonged delay in export will bring a storage space shortage likely to have looal reperoussions on the industry.
