WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Wallingforf Meeting At the "December meeting of the Wallingford Women 's Institute, Mrs R. ,P. Wilder presided over a fair attendance. Sevenal apologies were received from members unable to attend. A cordial welcome was extended to Miss Jerome Spencer, O.B.E., who gave a most interesting talk on Institute matters. At the conclusion, on the motion of Mrs T. Hobson, Miss Spencer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Fdllowing afternoon . tea, which was dispensed by Mesdames J. McDonald, A. Judd, W. Stoddart, J. Byrne and G. McLcod, the monthly competitions were judged by Miss Spencer. The results were: Best Christmas gift not costing more than 2/-, Mrs A. Judd 1, Mrs S. Ward 2, Mrs Hewison 3. Best assortment home-made sweets, Mrs E. MeNutt 1, Mrs S. Ward 2. Mrs Jackson 's special prize for the best piece of needlework during the year was awarded to Mrs Groves. The cooipetition in connection with the Plunket nurse 's travelling expenses, was won by Mr R. P. Wilder.
