SUBSIDIES APPROVED
Road and Domain Improvements at Havelock Intimation that applications for eertain suusidies on proposed works m the township had been successful has been received T»y the Havelock North Town Board from Mr H. M. Christie, M.P. As a result 42 men will be given eight weeks' work. Mr Christie actvised that the Employment Board had agreed to grant a subsidy of 100 per cent. on the labour costsj involved in the widening and improving of Tanner street in the vicinity of the cemetery and this work, which commences to-morrow, will provide work for 30 men for eight weeks. A similar subsidy has been granted also for the laying down of tennis courts in the Havelock Domain, and it 'is anticipated that, when this work is commenced early in January, 12 men will be employed for eight weeks.
