Band Concert.

Conditions were ideal for tbe openair recital at QueCn's Square last evening by tbe Hastings Citizens' Band. There was a big attendance and tbe full and varied programme of music was accorded a most appreciative attention. A collection in aid of tbe baud's funds netted £1 1/8$. Broadcast Cancelled. "No brpa.dcast otber than tbe children 's session is to be given in the meantime from Hastings." This was tbe instruction tbat was given from Wellington to radio station 2ZH, Napier, and., in consequence, tbe arrangement for a special programme from tbe new studio in Hastings tbat was to bave been bropdcast this evening bas been cancelled. It was iutended, in the first place, to officially open tbe new studio to-nigbt following tbe usual children 's session and to broadcast a programme from Hastings through tbe Napier station. Hastings Accidents. According to tbe statistics kept by tbe Transport Department 18 persons were injured in traffie accidents in Hastings between March and November, six being injured seriously. Two motor cyelista were seriously injured in collisions witb fixed objeets, in one case tbe racecourse gateway in Market strete, and in tbe otber, a tree. Two pedestrians were knocked down by motor vebicles and suffered severe mjuries. Serious injuries were also bustained in collisions between a car and a lorry, RRd a car and a traiiu -Amotor car hit a power pole, and a man was injured wben be jumped from a moving lorry. Tbe coins bear tbe same markings on tbe reverse side, wbile on the obverse is an excellent likeness of His Majesty in portrait form. Tbe previous coms sbowed King George 'V. attired in robes and weaTing tbe CrOwn. The wording, "George VI., King Emperor is more widely spaced on tbe new coms, and ocoupies practically tbe entire circle.
