Onehunga Woollen Mills Employees TROUBLE OVER LOOMS
(By Telesraph-
' AUCKLAND, Last Night. It is possible that employees of the Onehunga Woollen Mills, Ltd., numbering from 110 to 120, may be on strike from.Monday in sympathy With fhe girls of the weaving seetion who objected to being changed to different looma from whieh they were accustomed and on that- aceount left their work on Friday of last week, A meeting of. employees, at which • the attendaqce was said to be about 70, was held in the luncheon hour when the following motion was carried: — "That this meeting supports the weavers in 'Ihe action- takenby them and that work will cease as1 from to-night unless steps are'taken to have the matters in dispute rectified." "We are awaiting developments, " said one of the proprietors when asked what was tho attitude' of the management to the threat of a strike. As tho management has not taken any s'teps to grant tho request conveyed in the resolution, it. would seem that the nest move must come from the employees who, in the ordinarycase, would start worlc after tho woek-end holiday on Monday morning. It is stated the management received a letter from Mr. T. Long, secretary of tho Auckland Woollen, Hosiery and Knitting l-\lls and Allied Trades Union, putting forward the alleged grievances of the girls in tho weaving department and asking that they be rectified. Before this communication could be dealt with, the lunch hour saeeting was held of employees and the resolution adopted as previously mentioned.
