Licensee's Conduct of Hotel POLICE ALLEGATIONS '

ROTORUA, Last Night. Following receipt of a report from the po-Iice making certain allegations in regard ,to_ the conduct of the hotej, the Eotorua Licensing Committee at its meeting to-day adopted tho unusual course of carrying a resolution instructing the police to serve notice upon tho licensee of ,the Tokaanu Hotel, John Atirau Asher, to atte^t a meeting of the committee on Deceffiber 17 to.show ■cause why he should not be dealt with under section 104 of the Licensing Act, which gives the Committee power in certain circumstances to cancel a license. The chairman of the Committee, Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., said that it appeared to the Committee that Asher had ignored previous warnings and tho timo had now arrived to .taka ftrm steps. A report was received from the police making certain allegations in regard to . the conduct of the hotel, and it' was intimated that Asher would be called upon to bring evidenee in rebuttal of these charges.
