The Dominion Government disallowed his legislation for taxing the banks, on the ground that banhing is aoJcly within Federal nuthority. Then Mr Aberhart called the Legislature together to re-enact his Bill in a somewhat difforont f orm, aud along with it a bill "to ensnre publiqation of accurate news and information" i» newspapers and periodjcals, The Lieu tenan t-G o v ernor refused to sign the moasures and they afe being studied by tho Dominion cabinet in the light of ' representations made by Mr Aberhart. Moanwhile, there is jnuch speculation pver the course Mr Aberhart will pursire if these Bills are disallowed. He has spoken of the possibility of an election, but has not made any definite stateraent. There is strong opposition -to the Social Credit administration, but the opposing army' marches under various leaders. The Liberals iand Conservativms. are in the field, the United Farmers (who controlled the government beforo Mr Aberhart won the election two yoars ago), the Co-operative Commonwealth Fedenation, tho People 's League, and so on. Efforts which are meeting with some success are being made to form a united front against Social Credit under Mr E. L. Gray, provimcial Liberal leader, and an impeths was given the roove'ment when Mr Gray, with Conservative and other support, won by a large majority a place in the Legislature at a by-eleetaon held recAntlr in Edmonton, 'r*.
