Principal Handicap Presents a Problem . FIELDS REVIEWED
WELLINGTON, This Day. The Otaki Maori Club has the racing stage to itself to-morrow, this being the only meeting in the Dominion seheduled for Saturday. Eields are oi adequate size, and the form should be of value for Wellington provincial fixtures over the holidays. The iiino acceptors in the principal handicap offor hottors a problem, as Ihe form is mixed. After his unlucky run i n tho Manchester Handicap at Feilding Brazen Iving will come in for j strong support. He loolcs a good horse i this term. Tho race at Feilding iS sure to have improved. Hazoor was plodding on at the end of the Manchester Handicap, but he ] may find it hard to beat some of the ! younger improvers, especially Legatee, who is now racing consistently and who won as recently as Napier Parlc. Sunee has been galloping well at Trentham since his return from the Cup meeting, j and he always goes well at Otaki, and Gay Boy is coming on rapidly with each race. Terry looks the best of the. lightweights. She won really well at Levin. The open sprint is over $even furlongs, a distance that will suit such horses as Jubilee Song, Slippery, Mittie, Lone Raider, and Mister Quex, and the promoted hack, Lucullus Lad, may not find the class above him. His form against The Bigot at Trentham was impressive. Lone Raider rau one bad race j and one good oue at Feilding, following j a very bad one at Levin, He appears j to have lost his former dash. and is 1 better suited by longor distanceS. i T'he muidens to-morrow include Hau1 pongi, who rau a good second to Maori Song at Trentham in ■ J uly, since when ho has not raeed. Glimpses of form have been shown -lately by Dane'mg Flame, Luughing Chief, Ruling Spi, Fairy Dale. Probably Levin fOrm will be the best giiido and this poinls to Dancipg Flame. Southem Blood should come in for support in. the hUrdlo race, as those Opposed to him are uot a good lot outside of the Gisborne double winner, Mahala. Top Hat and Camilla Horh are other prospects. If Siegmund can manage the track he should- account for the Otaki Hack Handicap, in which Qolden Chest, Mea Mea, Lustral and Roaming are other possihilities.
In the other hack races, Diainond Outter, Cute Melody and Alungaj Maestro, Galteemore and Bing Boy; and Race Call, Colleen Gain and Conversion have the best form". Riding engagements have been announced as follows : — S. . Wilson, Sunee, Sunny Blonde, Dancing Flame, Golden Chest, Diumond Cutter, Jubilee Song; P. Burgess, Irish Orders, Siegmund; E.
