"AU REVOIR" AFTERNOON FOR MRS. H. T. BERRY

On Tuesday afternoon Madame Margaret Mercer entertained a number of friends to musio and afternoon tea in t'hq Green Studio. Mrs. Rosewarne, who was to have been joint hostess, was unfortunately unable to be present .owing to illness in tbe family, and she had to leave on Monday for Wellington. * The reception was arranged to give a number of inusicians an opportunity of saying "au revoir" to Mrs. H. T. Berry, who leaves Napier this week to reside in Gisborne. Miss ltogers played pianoforte solos, and Madame Mercer sang severul songs. At a suitable interval Mrs. Berry i was presented with a charming bouquet I of roses, the gift of Mrs. James Cliris- ; tie. Madame Mercer took the oppor • j tunity of expressing her thanks and i appreciation to Mrs. Berry for the very j excellent service rendered by her i» the studio as official accompanist, re- j marking that. Mrs. Berry was one of) the few pianists who could claim to be j solo pianist and accompanist. ; Mrs. B. Barnett also spoke of Mrs. t Berry's work in connection with the Townswomen's Guild, and expressed the hope that she would join up with the movement in Gisborne. Madame Mercer received her guestP wearing a gown of marina blue witl> touches of beige and red. Mrs. H. T.
