Fresh Series Commenced at Hastings HERETAUNGA^ GOOD S'CORE Plenty of variety and excitement was provided by the mid-weeli cricketers in Hastings yesterday afternoon when a fresh serie's of matches in the club ehampionship competition was commenced under ideal conditions. Several excellent individual perforroances. both batting and bowling, were recorded. Heretaunga compiled the excellent score of 267 against West End, this eEort being mai.nly due to Eouse (87) and Giorgi (84), who put on a secondwicket partnership of close on 150 runs. Eosenberg, the West End star bowlei\ captured six wickets for 59 runs. West Erid commenced their reply a and have lost two wickets for 42 runs. Jn the other game United showed a cliaugo of form, for in the first innings they made 136. but after making short work of their opponents, Methodists, they in taru were disposed of i'or the small total of 47 runs, tkree inmngs in the game being completed in the ono afternoon's play. The outstanding performers in this .match were Brimer (United) who mado 75, Ball who took seven United wickets in the first- innings for 52 runs, and Wilkins who took six for 22 in the second irmings.
