Federal indictments against 20 alleged members of an international Arkins, Michaelson, Graham, Brown. narcoties smuggling ring whp were reSponsible for "the "entry of miilions of idollars' worth of drugs into the United States revealed an ingenious method of pperatipn by which the gang finaneed round-the-world tours of several attractively and smartly-groomed young women whose luggage contained heroin. Threp "Customs officials are among the prisoners. They would look the other WUy instead of inspecting the luggage, receiving 1000 dollaTs for eaoh occasion. The prisoners, including the women travellers, were arrested in simultaneous raids led by Customs men anxious to redeem the good name of the service. The proflt to the gaug is illustrated by the fact that on gix known trips costing less thau 200.000 dollars the women brought in heroin valued in ex? cess of a million dollars.
