The second round of the District Shield competition was played last Saturday under ideal "conditions. Waipukurau is still at the head of . the list, having had only one loss. Kia Toa comes next, then Havelock North, which had 100 per cent. wins in the second round, as also did Waipukurau.' The feature* of the second round were the 100 per cent. wins by both Havelock North and Waipukurau. These clubs made a very caxeful selection of their teams and the selectors concerned are to be congratulated on the results aehieved. A novel challenge match took place on the Shortland golf links, Nowcastlo, New South Wales, recently, between. Mr Keifh Butler, president of the Steelworks Golf Club, and Dr. P. Tooth, a keen bowler. British Bowlorg, The British touring bowlers are to arrive at Wellington on December 2 by the Arawa from Home. A game is bemg arranged for them at Wellington on December 3, and besides introducing the visitors to the first of the New Zealand greens, this will give them an 'opportunity of getting back their "land legs," The British party travels to Palmerston North on the morning of Saturday, December 4, and is to retura to Wellington on the Sunday cvening. On Monday afternoon, December 6, they are to play the official match against the Wellington Centre at the Wellington Club, and will leave the same evening to start the South Island portion of their tour.
