Motorist Fined and Licence Suspended

AUCKLAND, Last Night. Charged with driving a motor-car iu a rnanner which might have been dangerous to the public, Thomas Curtia appeared in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. C. R, Orr Walker, S.M. D. A. Gray, a master at the Dilworth School on the Great South road, said defendant passed the school at 45 miles an hour while witness was waiting ,tc take a party of boys across the road. Defendant said the accelerator pedal of his car became disconnected, with the result that the car speeded up temporarily. The magistrate said he could not accept the explanation and imposed a fine of £5 and costs and suspended defendant 's license for two months, saying he did so to warn other motorists against speeding past schools.
