Slight Rise on Fat Cattle . at Hastings STORTFORD LODGE SALE The very short yarding at Stortford Lodge to-day did not make the improvement in values that was anticipated. The selling was quiet, due to little competition being shown. Cow beef improved by 2/- per 1001b., the top pri'ce being £9 15/-. Quahty was not featured in the female pens, the cows showing medium quality only, being chiefly unfinished sorts. Heifers were not in sufficienb supplies to test the selling. : Several of the butchers who were holding supplies of quality cattle did not enter the market, -otherwise values would have shown a sharp rise. A few pens of bullocks were offered, and, not being gross, made good summer beef which realised to £14 6/-/ averaging approximately 35/- per 1001b". Very few Jersey sorts were penned and these made from 16/- to 17./- per 1001b. compared with 20/- per 1001b. a month ago. . Realisations were as under:— OX BEEF RATES. A well-framed, heavy, plain-quality Jersey cross bullock was passed at the good iigure of £11 5/-. Two .well-framed, weighty Shorthorncross bullocks, solidly finished, and in good order, sold to £14 5/-. Four weighty Aberdeen Angus cross bullocks, well finished, but not gross, being a good beef entry, sold to £14 1/-. ■ ...... Three dehorned, solidly-finished, well-framed- Hereford bullocks, in good killing condition, sold to £14 6/-. COW BEEF VALUES. Four well-framed, medium-finished Aberdeen-Angus cows sold well to £9 5A. .
