Japanese naval officers seized an American tug at the Kinleeyun wharf, in the French Concession, tore down and threw overboard the Stars and Stripes and removed from the bridge a plate indicating the ownership, The United States Consul is reported to have emphatically protested and reported the incident to Washington. s Other Japanese seized two tugs carrying the Italian flag, The Italian Consul-General strongly protested to the Japanese Consul-General against the eeizing of the tugs, the hauling down of the Italian flag and the hoisting of the Eising Sun.
