MONTHLY INGLESIDE
Hastings and District Scots' Society A happy gathering filled the O.ddfellows' Hall at the monthly ingleside of the Hastings and District Scots Society. Included among the visitors was a party from Napier, drganised by Mrs Zeta Bergman, whose dancing pupils, with other artists, contributed almost the entire programme. The chairman, Chief P. J. Priest, welcomed the members and visitors. The December ingleside, would be held on New Year's Eve as was the usual custom. At the forthcoming Burns Night celebration on Jattuary 25 the speaker would be the Hon Adam Hamilton. A pieasant ceremony was the presentation 6f a dinner waggOn to Mr Short and . Miss Martin on the occasion of their approaching marriage. An interesting feature on the programme was an address by Miss Wood oti her travels in the Old Country. The brilliant display of dancing by the small childiren, also junior and senior pupils of Mrs Bergman, which included Highland Flings, hornpipes, niilitary, Russian and tap dances, also Irish jigs was most enjoyable. Other items on the programme were: — Pipe selections, Piper Watts and Bell; instrumental selections, Mr J. Ogg; song, Miss M. Hillj song, Miss Ramsay; pianoforte selections, Miss Langley; sword dance, Mr Duncan McKenzie ; pianoforte solo, Mrs Moran; song, Mr O'Dwyer; play reading, "Go to Jericho," Mrs Storer, Mrs Walker, Mrs Harper, Miss Ritchie, Miss Law, Miss Sutherland. Miss Collins and Mrs Moran were the accompanists. Piper Watts and McKays orchestra played for the dancing Chief tain Ramsay was M.C.
