DUNEDIN. Last Night. As a protest against the alleged unfair holiday system, all of tlie 180 empioyees of Shacklock's esouth End i oundry • struck this morning after a stop-work meeting at which it was decided tb cease work for the day. The basis of , the men's grievance is that instead of the customary closing down On Dfccember 24 the management has declded to close the workg on December 9, reopening on January 3. The men c,aim that they will lose the henefit oi holiday pay for three statutory holidays, Christnias Day, JJoxing Daj and New Year's -Day. Tho spokesman for the men said they did not object to two extra weeks' holiday but to being given two weeks before Christmas.
