Campaign of Calumny in Italian Press BEYOND BOUNDS OF REASON (Eeeeived 30, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 29, The Paris correspondent of The Times says M. Leger, Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs, received Signor Prunas, Italian Charge d'Affaires, and discussed the outbursts in the Italian Press concerning M. Campinehi's reported speech. The Italian Press declares that M. Campinchi caid that war between Italy and France was inevitable. It is understood that M. Leger stated that the Government regarded the campaign of calumny as exceeding the bounds of decency and reason, particularly in view of the official denials that the speech had been made. It is understood that the cause of the trouble was a semi-private remark • by M. Campinchi that if Corsiea were attacked France would defend it. It is understood that the Italian Press has now been instructed to toue down its anti-French campaign.
