STDNEY, Nov. 20. During a cricket match between Lithgow and Hazelgrove, a vicious magpie attacked fieldsmen aiid bowlers and pecked the scalps of some of the players. The magpie had its nest in a pine tree near the ground, and apparently feared that the players would harm its young. Throughout the match it kept up a series of attacka, flying from tho tree and pecking at the heads of the players. Those players who did not wear caps were most troubled, and tbe bowlers said they could not keep . .a length because of the bird. The aid of the Eoys in the towrn was enlisted, and a reward offered for the magpie 's capture. Although a number of boys threw stones vigorously, when play ended the magpie had not been driven off.
