HERETAUNGA EXECUTIVE

Mr H. B. Poppelwell presided over a fuil attendance of the committee of the Heretaunga Swimming and Life-Saving CiuB, It was decided to commence the aggregate series at the club carnival to be conducted on Friday night, when the following programme will be staged: Junior boys' race, 25 yards; junior girls' race, 25 yards; intermediate boys' race, 50 yards; intermediate girls' and ladies' race, 50 yards; open handicap, 50 yards; B grade handicap, 50 yards; B grade diving, 'open diving, novelty ribbon dive, teams' race. Mr E. Drummond was appointed to the committee to fill the vacancy eaused by Mx Doggett's transfer from Hastings. A report was received from the delegates to the ePmbined meeting of clubs to the effect that the first carnival xot the Rainbow Shield and Baird Pennants will be condqeted by the Heretaunga club-on Friday, December 17. Advice was received that the Royal Life-Saving Society would be staging a grand carnival at Napier at an early date, and it was agreed that the club give its support to tiie effort. The executive has been advised of a special motiou picture film which is being placed at its disposal within the eourse of a week or so» and now wishes to announee to its meinbers and supporters^ and the public generally, that suitable arraugements will be made for the Screening of the filiu, Whieh depicts the famous American Olympic team in slow motion, in both swimming and .diving. The arranger^ents made will be

advertised as soon as it is possible to do so. The meeting discutesed the "Learn-to-Swim" week which is to commence on December 13, and a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Poppelwell, Harvey and Graham, was set up to bring down a definite working seheme so that the club cau cope with the large uumber expeeted and give all the tuition possible. The final arrangements will be announced next Tuesday.
