Zodiacal Light. The rare solar pheuomeuon of zodiacal light was in evidence in Taranaki on Wedne'sday night, In tlie towns people were drawn on to the streots tu wonder at the eerie light that threw buildings into sharp relief and mad 3 the street lighting seem supcrflous. TJie normal daylight was fading into dark- ' ness about seven o'elock when suddenly : ihe low sky was lit up again with a peculiar yellowish light. Shops and houses were shown up as though ficodlit, and colours on shop signs wero given a shai rness and clarity not no- • iiceable in ordinary sunlight. Plowers ond tic-c-3 were similatdy emphasised Lm , the landscape.
