HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEMBERS VISIT GARDEN
A very pleasant afternoon was en- ; joyed by members of the Hastings Hor- ; ticultural Society when, at the invitation of Mrs Howard Glazebrook, they visited lier home, the Washpool Hastings, to see her lovely garden. About 30 members of the society were present and were welcomed by their hostess on arrival, and later she csc-orted them round the garden, which was looking beautiful. The guests found every part of the garden looking most attraetive, and all considered it one of the best in the district. As the weather. was not quite prefect, afternoon tea was served inside, and here huge lires were burning brightly in the reception rooms. A delicious tea was enjoyed by everyone. Before departing, Mrs J. C. Tosswill, who is the oldest member of the society, expressed the thanks of the visitors to Mr and Mrs Glazebrook for the very delightful afternoon which had been greatly appreciated by everyone. The llorticultural Society was also ' grateful to those who lent their cars to take the members to the garden. Among those present were:— Mrs J. C. Tosswill, Mrs Walter Wright (who is the second oldest member of the society), Mr F. S. Thomas (secretary), and Mrs Thomas, Mr Miller (treasurer), Mr and Mrs Hedley Harvey, Mr and Mrs Harry Harvey, Mrs L. J. Harvey, Mrs O. C. Moller Mrs Best (Temuka), Mrs E. Y. Comrie, Misses Shaw, Miss McCorkindale, Mrs Kirkpatriek, Mrs Innes Campbell, Mrs C. R. Bayly, Miss Olga Pranklin (Oamaru), Mrs G. Nilsson, Mrs Russell Nilsson, Mrs M. Yaughan, Mrs Mitchell, Mrs Snaddon and Mis Powdrell. The president of the society, Dr. Scott, was unable to be present.
