Canon Describes Conference at Bournciinouth QVER 3000 DELEGATES ATTEND Some idea of the sOcial activities connected with a Rotary conference wds given members of tho Hastings Rotary Club yesterday afternoon by Canon C. Mortimer-Jones, whp reported oix the Bournemouth conference of the Rotary International of Great Britain and Ireland, which he attended while visiting the Old Country. •The . speaker mentioned that for the conference there were about 3000 deiegates from clubs throughout the Bxitish lsles/ as well as many visiting delegates from clubs in Europe. Tnough there was a tremendous amount of business to be discussed, time was found for all forms of entertainmexxt. Epr the Mhyor's Ball the magnificent pavilion built in the Bournemduth gardens was utilised and, though it had accommodation for over 3000 people, it was not large enough, In future the confereiice will take place in Blackpool, the only placo in England that can accommodate such huge gatherings. There was an excellent vaxiety of entertainment provided delegafbs and visitors, the soci&l side being wonderfully good and particularly bright. One thing had impresscd him greatly and that was the excellence of skating as a form of entertainment. He had ilever fully appreciated this until attending a performance given at the conference, and there was no doubt that skating on the ice was a fin6 form of entertainment. On the Sqnday all tho churcheg iu the district had special servicOs dealing with Rotary and were well attended. The whole conference was very exciting and most intefesting. There Wa& plenty to do, as well as plenty to see and enjoy. The speaker proceeded to deal with various matters of special interest t j Rotariaus, and read extracts from reports and addresses given at the conference.
