Quarantine Station in Tasmania

MELLINGTON, Last Night. ' In the House to-day Mr T. D. Burnett (Temuka— Opposition) asked the Minister of Agriculture an urgent question.' whether he w'buld consider the setting up of a New Zealand quarantine station in Tasmania with the eogflisance of"the Tasmanian Government, where "all- stud stock froni England .for New Zealand would- bo maintained at the lowest possible cost in charge of a New Zealand veterinai"ian, and whether," in view of the tremendous national importance of the probiein, quarantine and maintenanee charges would be" subsidised by the Agricultural Department. Tfie Minister of -Agriculture, tho Hon. W. Lee Martin, replied that he would have the matter -investigated. He added that there" was - the question of cost to be considered and -also the question of how far the Tasmanian Government would conc'ur. He recognised the importance of • the suggestion and the neeessity for having it investigated. '
