gi — — Salvation Army Anniversary - v, Last evening the Whakatu Salvation Army Sunday Sehool l^ld their anniversary. The hall was crowded with parents, children and others ixiterested in the young lolk. Mr C. Jackson, who is in charge of the Sunday school4 presided over the gathering. The children delighted all present with their singing, several company songs being given while they were grouped on the platform. Then ioUowed voca'i solos, recitations, dialogues and other items of interest, all revealing careful training and good attention on the part of the children. At tho close of the programme; Mrs H. M. Coleman presented the prizes. Mr Jackson spoke of Mrs Coleman 's interest in the Sunday school, her assistance making many treats for the. children and xmprovements to the Sunday schooi possible. It is to the credit of the Sunday school that in a number of instances posslo'e marks f'or the year had been gained. The presentation of a special prize was made to May Wells, who for five years in succession had gained the possible number of marks and is now transferring to the senior girls ' Bible class in tho centre. Mr Jackson thanked her for her practical interest in the Sunday school hall, keeping it . bright, clean and attraetive for all the ' meetings. Three hearty cheers were given for M'rs Coleman and. al'so for Mr Jackson. .Major Marshall thanked Mr Jackson^ the Misses Pedersen, Cleaver and Harrisj and Mr Y. ■ Wilson, for their work in the Sunday school during the year. -
