Donald Budge, rated No. 1 world fcennis player, and - Gene Mako, his partxier in the American Davis Cup team, passed through Auckland on the Monterey to-day on their way .to Australia where they will play exhibition matclies and participate in cliampionship meetings. Neither Budge nor Mako were availatile for an interview during the fore-
noon, Mr. Lamb, axxd the secretary, Mr. Porter, boarded the vessel when it berthed, but left at 10 o'elock, leaving a message stating that the Auckland Tennis Association would be pleased to extend courtesies during their brief visit.
