Deplorable Efiect in London QUESTIONS IN IHE COMMONS
(Received 26, 8.45 a.m.) EUGBY, Nov. 24. The Brazilian Government's suspension of the remittanee of funds designed for ihe serviee of the foreign debt was again the subjeet of questions in the House of Commons. Mr Anthony Eden, Foreign Minister, said he was awaiting a report from the British Ambassador at Eio de Janeira, who had been instructed to urge reconsideration of the position, particularly in view of the deplorable effect sueh unilateral action had created in London. Notice has been given to ask the president of the Board of Trade, Mr Oliver Stanley, if he will prepare a seheme for Anglo-Brazilian clearing so that, if the proposals by the Brazilian Government in respect of debt dcfault are not of sueh a land as Britxsh negotiators ean recommend for acceptance, Anglo-Brazilian clearing may be ready for the proteetidn of £.262,000,000 of Britaish capital in Brazil listed on the London Stock Exchange.
