CROQUET TOURNEY
Hastings Club Annual Event Preliminary rounds have now been eompleted in the annual tournament of the Hastings Croquet Club, which is to be continued to-day. The first stages of the tournament were interrupted by poor weather, but some interesting games were witnessed, with close , finishes. Eesults are as follows:— " HANDICAP DOUBLES, Mesdames Brooker'and Shirley (16|) beat Mesdames Hay and Lows (13^), 26—18. Mrs Lange and Miss Mellichamp (6) beat Mesdames Arkens and Coles (11), 26—18. Mesdames Tonkin and Davies (11) beat Mesdames Pope and Pidgeon (19), 26—6. Mesdames Ashworth and Wedd (12£) beat Mesdames Bennett and Duff (9), 26—20. Mesdames Esson and Tomlinson (7^) beat Mesdames Matthews and Ebbeth (15),- 26—24, Mesdames Shirley and Brooker (16$) beat Mrs Lange and Miss Mellichamp (6), 26—20, Miss Head and Mr Stratton (5$) beat Mesdames Tonkin and Davies (11), 26—11.
