Asked in the House of Cojnmons whether, if and when the transfer oi the protoctorates of South Africa tgkes place it will be done vrithin the terms set out . in the schedule to the South Africa Aet, Lord HaTtington, replying for tlio iDominions Secretary, said that the British Government did not contemplate any departure from the genornl scheme of administration of the schodule to the Act, and liad no reason to think that the TJnion Government dosired to propose any snch departure. lord Hartington announced in thu iTonfe of Oommons tliat, at tho request of the Government of Southern Eh> desia, and after consul.tation with the Governinents of Northern, Ehodesia and Nyasaland, a Boyal Commission would visit those territories to aseertain whether any fortt of closer co-operation or assoeiation between them was desirable and feasible, with due regard to the intcrests of the native inhabitant?. and races, and to the responsibilities of the British Government for the interests of the native inhabitants.
