Firmer Values for Beef

ATJOKLAND, Last Night. Lighter entries of ox beef, after the decline in values quoted last week, resulted in a firmer tendency being shown in this seetirai of the Westfield market to-day. Cow beef supplies were fulfilied and the rates were cnly firm. Extra ehoice ox made 40.'-, per lOOlbs.; ehoice and prime 34/- to 39/-; and unfinished 25/ to 36/-. Prime cow and heifer beef made from 33/- to 38/-, and unfinished 20/ to 83/-. Extra heavy steers ranged from £15 10/- to £16, heavy £14 10/- to £15, medium £12 to £14 5/-, light £10 10/- to £13 5/-, and unfinished £9 10/- to £10 10/-. Extra heavy cows and heifers Tealised from £9 10/- to £12 17/6, heavy £8 to £10, medium £6.10/- to £8 ];)/-, light £5 to £6 10/-, unfinished £3 to £4 10/-. A limiu'd entry of wethers resulted in firm prices being maintained, "but values for ewes, which were reasonably plentiful, eased by about 4/- a heal on last week's quotations.
