Final Trials for Takapuna Meeting MANY GOOD. EFFORTS

AUCKLAND, This Day. The final gallops for the Takapuna meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday took place on the course proper 50 feet out from the rails. Despite recent rain the going was in good order, and several ismart trials were recorded, Among the Alison Cup candidateSj Jonathan, Knight of Australia, Kelly, Eersen and Kilonsa impressed most over a distance, and Mazir and Kiltowyn were both responsihle for good efforts over six and seven furlongs respectively. Eereatu put up the best time over six furlongs, and Eingsliot went well in a similar task, Land Girl, after running her first half-mile in 52 4-5secsv completed seven furlongs in 1.36. She did her work in good style. Eereatu ran his 'first three furlongs in 40 l-5secs., and went on to complete six in 1.20— the best of the morning over th© distance. Captain Bruce assisted him over the last halfmile, finishing in front in 33 2-5secs. Kilonsa, Kelly and Eersen were practically in line, with Eoyal Appellant. close up, at the end of a round in 2.11 2-5. They ran the last seven furlongs in 1.36 2-5, the six in 1.23 2-5, and the final half-mile in 55secs. All were going well at the finish. Knight of Australia completed a round. in 2.10 2-5. He ran the last seven furlongs in 1,35 4-5, six in 1.22 2-5, and the final half-mile in 54 4-5secs. It was a good trial, as he had no assistance. Mundane, after getting several lengths the worst of the start, finished in front of Tiverton, with Quilp further back at the end of a halfmile in 52 2-5secs. This was a good effort. Mazir was clear of Surella after traversing six furlongs in 1.22, the first three taking 41 2-5secs. Mazir looks in good order after his recent raeing. Jonathan completed a mile and aquarter in 2.20 2-5. He covered the last round in 2.9 3-5, and was assiSted over the final six furiongs by Marie's Acre in 1.22 4-5, the last half-mile taking 33 l-5secs. Jonathan did his work impressively, and Marie's Acre also pleased. Eingshot and Ohmaha were fimed to run six furlongs in 1.221 2-5, the first three taking 39 4-5secs. Eingshot appeare to be doing better at the end, Tybalt traversed seven furlongs in 1.35 3-5. He was joined by Shy at the six-furlong post, and they came home from. there in 1.21 2-5. Tybalt had an advantage at the end. Kiltowyn, after taking 39 4-5secs. for his first three furlongs, completed seven in 1.33 2-5. Play On assisted him over the last half-mile, and they finished together in 53 3-5secs. Kiltowyn was running on at the end. Pasture finished in front of Adsum at the conclusion of a half-nxile in 52 l-5secs., the best of the morniug over tho distance. High Tea has been scratched for the Cheltenham Handieap and King Theo for the Cup.
