BAIRD'S NEW SHOP

Ladies' Show-roojn In Modern Extension ATMOSPHERE OF COMFORT Portion of the new building which has now beea constructed in Here taunga street, Hastings, will be occupied as an extension to the business premises of Baird's. The addition, which will be opened for the first time on Saturday morning, is to be used as a show-room for women 's wear, and will complete the service given by the numerous other departments of this large store. Economy in the use of floor spaco, achieved by the careful arrangement in "the show-room of show-cases and floor-stand exhibits, will be a feature that will be noticed when the public inspect the new premises. Although a full selection of all types of women 's wear will be shown, and the show-cases will be numerous, there will still be ample floor space so that easy access to all lines , will he obtainabe. In all, with its tempting display of clothing and millinery, and the splendid fittings of the department, the new addition is a valuable asset to the business. The building may be termed an up-to-date lounge show-room, fitted and furnished in green and buff. The new portion of the premises adds, with fltting rooms, almost 2,000 square feet of floor space, connected with the femainder of the shop by three archways and witht he street by a separate floor. In the construction of the show-rooia detailed attention has been paid to tho requirements of both lighting and ven* tilation. By means of opaque skylights, bright daylight is obtained in the showroom, and the ventilation is adequate but free froni draught. At night light is given with large hanging lampa, equipped with special shades to give a softening effect. Fitting-rooms aro provided in the rear of the show-room. In large glass show-cases, and on stands upon the floor, there will be" arranged a comprehensive array of f rocks ensembles, ladies' sports wear, millinery and evening gowns. The entire floor space of the showtoom is to be covered in a handsome shade of light green body carpet, creating an unusual atmosphere of coinfort.
