Political Addxess at Otane. A public address under the auspices of the New Zealand National Pa'rty, Waipawa Electorate, will be delivered in the Otane town hall on Saturday night by Col. J. Hargest, M.P., for Awarua. During the afternoon the ^speaker will be attending a garden party at Havelock North. Croquet at Waipukurau. The second inter-club croquet match between players from the Wairere Club, Napier and the Waipukurau Club was played op the Waipukurau greens yesterday. Play commenced at 10.30 a.m. and finished at 4 o'elock. The players were. — Wairere: Mesdames Ritehie, McLean, Dadson'and Angrove; Waipukurau: Mesdames J. Hindman, R. McLean, L. Harker and Townsend._ The. total seores were Wairere 63, Waipukurau 45. The weather was ' ideal and morning and afternoon tea and luncheon were provided. Before leaving for liome the visitors expressed thanks for a most enjoyable day. R.S.A. Golf. Three Waipukurau returned soldiers' r.ames appeared in the list of trophy winners at the second annual golf tournament held by the Returned Soldiers' Association on the Dannevirke Golf Club's course during the week-end. Over 120 returned men from all parts of the Dominion competed. The Waipukurau trophy winners were . H. B. Roach, Y. Stratford and F. H. Townsend. Mr Stratford was runner-up for the Somme championship (best gross score) and he and Mr Townsend tied with T. Wilson (Palmerston North) for the Beersheba Handicap (best net score). Mr Stratford, having already won a trophy, was not, however, eligible for another, and Mr Townsend lost when the trophy was drawn for. Mr Townsend won the Gallipoli bogey, his score being all square. Mr Roach was in the team of four which won the teams match. Entertainment at "San." A party of entertainers from Waipukurau provided a musi,cal programme at the Pukeora Sanatorium, which was greatly enjoyed by patients ■ and staff. The programme consisted of items by the Waipukurau Toc H male choir, conducted by Mr C. Wadman, sen., vocal solos by Miss Mary Fleming and Messrs B. Yenner and C. Wadman and by a quartet of Messrs Wadman (2), J. Haines and J. Cook; duets by Messrs Hames and Wadman, jun., and recitations by Mr Frank V. Ward. Milk Testing at School. Mr J. Bainbridge, herdtester for the Waipukurau district, gave a demonstration of milk testing recently at the Waipukurau High School. Pupils brought.samples of milk from home and these were tested for their fat content. The demonstration proved of great value to the school children.
