Ghastly scenes were witnessed on October 14 when Japanese aeroplanes bombed the Chinese quarters alongside Soochow Creek, one of the bombs falling inside the Settlement and wrecking a trackless tram and killing and wondering the occupants. The photograph shows the wreckage of the tram-car after the bombing.
