BLENHEIM, Last Night. Providing iio serious bold-up is experienced in obtaining steel girders for bridge constructios, the Minister of Publie Works, the Hon. K. Semple, propbesies tbat work on the South Island Mmn Txunk will be completed in twelve months under the estimated time, according to Mr. tE. P. Meachen, M.P. for Wairau, who accompanied Mr. Semplc on an inspection of the line on Friday and Saturday. The Minister mad© a close inspection of the northern section, paying special attention to tbe modern machinery latelv installed with the object of expediting tunnelling operations.
